GSA Presents AGI Industry Quality Award To Qualiplast

Prof. Alex Dodoo, Ghana Standards Authority’s Director-General, last week presented the 6th AGI Industry and Quality second runner-up award to the management of Qualiplast Limited at the company’s industrial area office.

This was in recognition of the plastic manufacturing company being adjudged second runner-up at the recent awards ceremony held in Accra.

Total Petroleum Ghana Limited emerged overall winner with Ghana Oil Company Limited (GOIL) taking the first runner-up spot.

The awards ceremony was organized by the Association of Ghana Industries in collaboration with GSA, to publicly recognize businesses in the manufacturing and service sectors that have adopted quality standards in theiroperations.

This annual event is meant to encourage industries to pay attention to quality issues during their manufacturing and service delivery.

AGI, with over a thousand members, is the leading voice of manufacturing industries in the country. The membership spans across a wide range of small, medium and large scale manufacturing and services industries in agro-processing (food and beverages),agri-business, pharmaceuticals, electronics and electrical, telecommunications, information technology, utilities, service industries, transport, construction, textiles, garments and leather, banking and advertising.

GSA is the national statutory body responsible for the developing, publishing and promoting standards. And as part of its mandate undertakes metrology and conformity assessment.

In welcoming the two organisations, Shady Salloum, General Manager of Qualiplast, reiterated the company’s resolve to uphold and maintain quality standards in its operations.

“I am very proud of what we have been able to achieve so far, but we are striving to achieve even more in the coming years”, he said.

On his part, Dr Kludjeson of the AGI expressed the resolve of the Association and GSA to collaborate in ensuring that Ghanaian industries become productive and competitive through the application of standards.

Presenting the award to Qualiplast, Prof. Dodoo expressed his delight at their achievement and hoped that this would spur them on to greater heights. He took the opportunity toapologise for GSA and AGI’s inability to present the award during theactual ceremony.

Other members of the Qualiplast team present at the event were,Messrs. Joseph Aki (Deputy General Manager), Richard Cofie (Financial Controller),Evans Gyamfi (QMS Manager) Fred OheneOmane (HR Manager) and Ishmael Quaye (Head of Marketing).

Dr. Kludjeson was accompanied by Mary Turskson of AGI, while the GSA Director-General was supported by Mr. George Anti and Mr. Emmanuel Asare.
